W. H. Simmons to Maraman Bros - Part of Shepherdsville Lots 39 & 40

On 2 May 1891, the three Maraman brothers, George, Harry and William, contracted with William H. Simmons to purchase part of Shepherdsville lots 39 and 40, as described below. The deed was not recorded until 13 Aug 1896, after the purchase price had been paid.

On 15 Aug 1874, Nicholas Simmons had given parts of Shepherdsville lots 39 and 40, along with 500 acres west of town to his grandchildren, children of his deceased daughter Sarah Bohannon who had married Churchill B. Bohannon in 1854 in Bullitt County before moving to Union County. She died on 5 Jul 1867.

Then on 7 May 1887, the now-grown Bohannons sold this property to their uncle, William Henry Simmons, son of Nicholas Simmons. And, as indicated above, he sold part of the Shepherdsville lots to the Maraman Brothers who built a store on the site.

This deed of conveyance made and entered into this 2nd day of May 1891, between William H. Simmons of Jefferson County, Kentucky, party of the first part, and Maraman Bros. of Bullitt County, Kentucky, party of the second part.

Witnesseth that said party of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of $500 to be paid as follows, viz. $100 to be paid May 2nd 1892, $100 to be paid May 2nd 1893, $100 to be paid May 2nd 1894, $100 to be paid May 2nd 1895, and $100 to be paid May 2nd 1896. The party of the second part having executed their five promissory note with interest, due and payable as above, do hereby sell and convey to the party of the second part, their heirs and assigns, the following described property, to wit. A lot or parcel of land in the town of Shepherdsville, Bullitt County, Kentucky and described as follows.

Beginning at the northeast corner of Dr. Hoffman's lot and running thence north with a line of Main Street 70 feet to a stake, thence West 145 feet to a stake, thence South 28 feet to a stake, thence West 51 feet to a stake, thence South with the line of alley 45 feet to a stake, thence East 196 feet to the beginning, be the same more or less.
