Benjamin & Catharine Frye to Henry Crist

Benjamin Frye's wife Catharine was a daughter of Solomon Spears. In this deed they are deeding her right in her deceased father's share in land that had belonged to Spears and Henry Crist. This included two tracts described here and here.

Bullitt County Deed Book A, Pages 253-4

This indenture made this 16th day of March in the year of our Lord 1802 between Benjamin Frye and Catherine his wife of the county of Bullitt of the one part and Henry Crist of the county of Bullitt of the other part. Witnesseth that said Benjamin Frye and Catherine his wife for and in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds current money of Kentucky to him the said Benjamin in hand paid, the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said Henry Crist all the right, title, interest, claim and demand which the said Catherine Frye hath claim to as one of the heirs of Solomon Spears deceased, being one undivided twelfth part of two tracts of land situate in the County of Bullitt on Long Lick Creek, one of which tracts is the same whereon Richard Bibb and Thomas Speed now lives containing 400 acres, be the same more or less, which was entered and surveyed in the name of Solomon Spears and Henry Crist, the other being also 400 including the Long Lick which was also surveyed and entered in the name of Parmenas Briscoe and patented in the name of Solomon Spears and Henry Crist to have and to hold the said undivided twelfth part of the said two tracts of land together with all the improvements, profits, privileges, advantages and appurtenances thereunto belonging to him the said Henry Crist his heirs or assigns to him and their only proper use, benefit and behoof. And the said Benjamin Frye and Catharine his wife do hereby covenant and agree to warrant and defend the right and title of the said undivided twelfth part of the said two tracts of land which the said Catharine claims right to as one of the heirs and representatives of the said Solomon Spears to the said Henry Crist and his heirs against the claim of them the said Benjamin & Catharine and all claiming under them or either of them and against the claim or claims of all and every other person or persons whatsoever. And the said Benjamin and Catharine do hereby further covenant that they will at any time when hereafter called upon by the said Henry Crist made and execute any other deed or other instrument of writing which my be necessary in the law for the more full and complete conveyance of the right of claim of the said Catharine t osuch proportion of the said two tracts of land as she may by law be entitled to as one of the heirs of Solomon Spears deceased. In testimony whereof the said Benjamin Frye and Catharine his wife have hereunto subscribed their names and affixed their seals the day and year aforesaid. (signed) Benjamin Frye, Cathrine Frye

Bullitt County Sct
I Thomas Speed, clerk of the court of the county of Bullitt, do certify that on the 16th day of March 1802 the foregoing indenture was acknowledged before me by the within named Benjamin Frye and Catharine his wife to be their acts and deed and the said Catharine Frye, being examined by me privily and apart from her said husband, did freely and voluntarily relinquish her right of dower to the within mentioned tracts of land and that the same together with this certificate is recorded in my office.
