Gabriel Cox to Michael Troutman - 150 Acres

Gabriel Cox sold the westernmost 200 acres of his 790 acre survey on the south side of Salt River to Henry Crist in 1803. He then sold 150 acres to Michael Troutman on 17 Oct 1805; and in 1809 his heirs would sell the rest of the survey to the heirs of William R. Owens.


Bullitt County Deed Book B, Pages 54-55

This indenture made this 17th day of October 1805 between Gabriel Cox and Elizabeth his wife of Nelson County and state of Kentucky of the one part and Michael Troutman of Bullitt County and stayed aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Gabriel Cox and Elizabeth his wife for and in consideration of the sum of fifty five pounds current money to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge, have bargained and sold and by these presents do bargain and sell unto the said Michael Troutman a certain tract or parcel of land containing 150 acres lying in Bullitt County on the south side of Salt River, being part of a survey for 790 acres patented in the name of Gabriel Cox and bounded as followeth (viz). Beginning at a beech and sugar tree on the bank of Salt River, lower corner to Owens, running thence with his line South 45° East 103 poles to three beeches, thence North 82° East 107 poles to two ashes and beech, thence South 19° East 330 poles to a sugar tree and white oak, thence South 78° West 39 poles to a walnut, white oak & mulberry, thence North 22° West 240 poles to two beeches, thence North 20° West 100 poles to two beeches, thence North 62° West 90 poles to two beeches on the bank of Salt River, thence up the same binding thereon to the beginning. To have and to hold the aforesaid tract of land with its appurtenances to the said Troutman and his heirs forever to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Troutman and the said Gabriel and Elizabeth his wife do further covenant and agree with the said Troutman that they will warrant and forever defend the aforesaid tract of land with its appurtenances to the said Troutman and his heirs against themselves, & their heirs and all persons claiming under them and every other person whatsoever. To all whom it may concern Benjamin Grayson clerk of the county court of the county aforesaid do make known that on the fifth instant Gabriel Cox and Elizabeth his wife a party to this indenture did in my presence and in due form of law execute and deliver the same as their voluntary act and deed, the said Elizabeth being at the time of her executing and delivering as aforesaid out of the hearing of her said husband. To all whom it may concern, I Frederic William Spence Grayson, clerk of the county court of said county do make known that the within indenture with the certificates thereunder written was produced to me at my office to be recorded.
