Multiple creditors forced the sale of the Paroquet Springs property to George Simmons in 1885. A transcription of the deed is provided below, followed by an image of it.

Schupp, etc. to George W. Simmons, Paroquet Spring Property, 1885
This deed made this 8th day of December 1885 between Frederick Schupp and John Schmidt, partners as Schupp and Schmidt, Thornton B. Curry, Nathan Bensinger, J. W. Henning, surviving partner of Henning and Speed, H. Verhoeff Jr., guardian of John Verhueff, Henry Verhoeff and Martha Verhoeff, Albert Fink, G. V. Winston and J. F. Alway as executor of John Smallwood deceased, John Venhoeff, Henry Verhoeff and Martha Venhoeff, H. S. Irvin, trustee for the heirs of Eliza James and others, F. S. Reed, J. W. West and Kate West his wife, W. A. Meriwether as executor of W. P. Thomason deceased, H. S. Irvin, trustee for the heirs of Nellie Lawson deceased, H. S. Irvin, trustee for the heirs of James Smallwood deceased, W. B. Hoke, City of Louisville, Albert Fruck and The Third National Bank, all by John S. Miller, commissioner of the Louisville Chancery Court of the first part, and George W. Simmons of the second part.
Witnesseth that whereas Schupp and Schmidt files a petition in the Louisville Chancery Court No. 37878 against Thornton B. Curry and others, and whereas H. S. Irwin, trustee for the heirs of Eliza James, Nellie Lawson and James Smallwood also filed a petition in said court No. 38469 against Thornton B. Curry and others which said two cases were consolidated and ordered heard together by said court May 1st 1885 and both of said petitions praying judgment enforcing and finalizing mortgage lien on the property therein described; and whereas H. Venhoeff, guardian of John Henry and Martha Venhoeff and others filed in said court their answers and cross petitions asserting lein &c and among which was the following described property to wit -
A tract of land lying in Bullitt County, Kentucky known as the "Paroquet Springs" property and containing one hundred and ninety acres more or less and being the same property conveyed to the defendant Thornton B. Curry by C. C. Hoke and wife by deed of February 3rd 1880 and of record in the Bullitt County Clerk's office in Deed Book X, page 103 and described and bounded as follows, viz.
Commencing at a stone, the division corner between Humphrey Simmons and James Guthrie in the middle of the Shepherdsville and Mt. Washington road, thence with the middle of said road and the meanderings thereof towards Shepherdsville until it strikes the line of Shepherd's nine hundred acre tract on survey and McGee's line, thence with the line of said Shepherd and McGee patent tracts and Maraman who claims under Shepherd to the patent corner of said tracts on the banks of Salt River and up the river and binding thereon to a stake in the divisional line between Simmons and Guthrie, and thence with their divisional line out from the river N 36 1/2 degrees, 1 minute W 184 poles to the stone in the Shepherdsville Road being the point of beginning, and such proceedings were had in such cause that a judgment was rendered in substance ordering the sale of the above described property which was duly appraised according to law and under that judgment the marshal of said court reported a sale thereof as of the 23rd day of November 1885 to the said George W. Simmons at the sum of $3905.00 for which sum he has executed two bonds each for the sum of $1952.50 and due respectively in six and twelve months with interest thereon from day of sale until paid with W. H. Simmons and S. P. Meyer as surety which report of sale was confirmed by said court and the commissioner was order to convey said property to said second party, obtaining a lien as per order made in said court Dec. 8th 1885, all of which more at large appears by reference to said cause which reference is now here made for greater certainty. Now therefore this deed further witnesseth that the said parties of the first part by said Miller as commissioner for and in consideration of the premises and for the further consideration of said sum of $3905.00 secured to be paid by said second party as aforesaid have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, release, confirm and convey unto said second party the property hereinbefore more particularly described together with the appurtenances thereon pertaining a lien to secure the payment of the unpaid purchase bonds herein to have and to hold the same unto said second party and his heirs and assigns forever. At the court held for the court aforesaid on the 7th day of December 1885 came J. S. Miller, commissioner, and produced in court the within and foregoing deed to G. W. Simmons and executed and acknowledged the same as commissioner for and on behalf of the grantors therein named to be their act and deed - and said deed being examined and approved by the chancellor is ordered to be certified to by the clerk of this court to the clerk of the Bullitt County Court for record which is hereby done.
