Bullitt County Deed Book A2, pages 18-19

This indenture made this 27th day of June in the year of our Lord 1797 between Michael Troutman, Frederick Panebaker, Benjamin Stansbury and John Essary, gentlemen, now acting trustees for the town of Shepherdsville of the one part and John Scott of the town aforesaid of the other part.

Witness that for and in consideration of the sum of seven pounds, two shilling and six pence current money to Adam Shepherd in hand, have and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto the said John Scott and his heirs and assigns the half of a certain lot of land known in the plat and plan of said town number five, being that half whereon said Scott now lives, lying on Main Street.

To have and to hold the said lot of ground with its appurtenances unto the said John Scott, his heirs and assigns to their only proper use and behoof forever; and the said trustees for themselves and their successors the said lot of land with the appurtenances unto the said John Scott shall and will forever warrant and defend against all and every person or persons whatsoever claiming by or from them or any of them, subject nevertheless to the conditions and forfeitures prescribed by the act of assembly establishing said town.

The museum, along with its research room, is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Saturday appointments are available by calling 502-921-0161 during our regular weekday hours. Admission is free. The museum, as part of the Bullitt County Genealogical Society, is a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization and is classified as a 509(a)2 public charity.
