William Whitledge to Overall Whitledge, 272.75 Acres

William Whitledge obtained a patent for 1000 acres north of Floyd's Fork on 20 Jul 1793. Then on 18 Sep 1802, he signed over various parts of it to his sons William Jr., Overall, Thomas and John.

Know all men by these presents that I William Whitledge of Bullitt County and state of Kentucky for and in consideration of the natural love and affection I bear and have for my son Overall Whitledge as well for the further consideration of one dollar to me in hand paid by the said Overall Whitledge at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents do give and grant unto the said Overall Whitledge a certain part of a tract of land lying in Bullitt County on Ceder Creek as is specified in a patent obtained by me from Isaac Shelby, governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, bearing date the twentieth day of July 1793 & bounded as follows viz. Beginning at two dogwood trees in Thomas Hardin's line and running thence South 55° East 176 poles to an ash and two dogwood trees, thence South 35° West 127 poles to hickory, dogwood and beech trees corner to Thomas & John Whitledge, course continued 124 poles in all 248 poles to two beeches and two elms near a cedar glade, thence North 55° West 176 poles to a gum and two beech trees on a ridge, thence North 35° East 106 poles to two sugar trees corner to Thomas Hardin, course continued with said Hardin line 142 poles in all 248 poles to the beginning, said to contain 272 3/4 acres to be the same more or less to have and to hold all my right and title to the above mentioned premises unto him, his heirs & assigns forever.
