Bullitt County Cemetery Committee

The Bullitt County Genealogical Society Cemetery Committee, when weather permits, visits cemeteries in the county. They are also spend many hours researching county records and other information, and interviewing county residents. They continue to update, expand, and modernize our records of cemeteries and graves in our county. Thanks to the past work of members such as Mary Sebetti and Doris Owen, we already have some good documentation of many cemeteries. But many more old cemeteries have since been found, and the old information needs modernizing to allow computer-based research and mapping. The team hopes to build on past work, re-document all cemeteries with GPS location mapping as well as photographs, and computerize everything for easier research.

For a reasonable donation, copies of readings of individual cemeteries can be provided, as well as of cemetery and headstone photos. We now have over three thousand photos in our cemetery database. In some cases, if a known tombstone is not in our photo database, and team members can find the time, we might be able to take a photo for you for a reasonable donation. Use the contact section at the end of this page for more information.

If you can help, by going out with the committee to map and photograph cemeteries in the county, or by providing previous reading or background information on people buried in Bullitt County cemeteries, please contact us. You may contact us by using our main contact page (link above) to send a message to the museum.

Below is a link to a list of the cemeteries we have identified thus far. Additional information includes the location of the cemetery, its latitude and longitude, its elevation above sea level, and if we have visited the cemetery, the date it was visited and in most cases the number of photos that were taken. At this time, the photos and additional information are available only at the museum.
