On 5 May 1860, William Smith purchased an acre of ground next to the railroad in Lebanon Junction from Margaret Starks and her children, as shown below. He then purchased rights to the same land from the grandchildren of Daniel Starks, deceased, also shown below.
Then in May 1868, he conveyed that piece of ground located in the Y of the junction of the main stem and Lebanon branches of the railroad to the railroad in exchange for a ten year lease on the property that included the Lebanon Junction hotel as shown on another page.

This indenture made and entered into this 5th day of May 1860 between William Smith of the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky of the one part and Margaret Stark, John L. Thompson and Sophia Thompson his wife, Jerry Stark and Mary J. his wife, Henry Triplett and Emily Triplett his wife, John Stark, and William C. Duvall and Mary Duvall his wife of the counties of Bullitt, Nelson, Spencer and Hardin and state aforesaid of the second part.
Witness that the parties of the second hereby sell and convey to said William Smith the following described piece of land lying in the county of Bullitt on the west side of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad at the Lebanon Junction, and bounded as follows.
Beginning on the west side of the railroad in Mrs. Stark's line 33 feet from the middle of the running, and 12 1/2 links South 45° East from a stone which was planted on the bank and running thence parallel with the road North 6° East 16 poles to a point 20 links South 84° East from a stone, thence North 84° West 20 poles to a stone in Mrs. Stark's line, thence with said line South 45° East 25 3/5 poles to the beginning containing one acre, for the sum of $70.33 to us paid, the receipt of which we hereby acknowledge; that is $33.33 1/3 to Margaret Stark, and $7.40 paid to said Thompson and wife, and a like sum paid to said Triplett and wife, and a like sum paid to said John Stark, and a like sum paid to said Jerry Stark, and a like sum piad to said Duvall and wife.
To have and to hold the said acre of land hereby conveyed to said William Smith and his heirs and assigns forever. And we the parties of the second part hereby warrant the title of said acre of land to said William Smith against ourselves and those claiming under us, and against all claims whatever, but the above warranty only binds each to the extent of the interest sold.
Given under our hands the date above. The said Margaret Stark owning a life estate in said lot of land, and the other parties to one-ninth part each in fee simple, subject to said life estate. (Signed by all of the second parties.)

For and in consideration of the sum of $8.63 1/2 cash in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, we Luke Stark and Mary Jane his wife, Malvina Anderson (formerly Malvina Stark) and D. B. Anderson her husband, Elizabeth Strader (formerly Elizabeth Stark) and Peter Strader her husband, Polly Hoskins (formerly) Polly Stark and Joseph Hoskins her husband, and William Stark and Arthusa his wife, Sophia Austin (formerly Sophia Triplett) and Bayless Austin her husband, the Luke, Malvina, Elizabeth, Polly, William and Sophia being grandchildren of Daniel Stark dec'd, have this day granted, bargained and sold unto William Smith of Bullitt County, Kentucky and his heirs and assigns forever with covenant of general warranty all their undivided right, title and interest in the following piece of ground adjoining the Lebanon Junction and bounded as follows.
Beginning on the west side of the railroad in Mrs. Stark's line 33 feet from the middle of the running tract, and 12 1/2 links South 45° East from a stone which was planted on the bank and running thence parallel with the road North 6° East 16 poles to a point 20 links South 84° East from a stone, thence North 84° West 20 poles to a stone in Mrs. Stark's line, thence with said line South 45° East 25 3/5 poles to the beginning containing one acre, together with the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining thereto.
